Tips for less severe reactions to animal dander:
1. Keep your pet out of the house, and in particular, out of the bedroom.
2. Keep pets off furniture, especially upholstered furniture where animal dander can be transferred.
3. Use a room air purifier, in the bedroom to remove airborne animal dander.
4. Always wear a 3 M mask and protective gloves when grooming your pet.
5. Bathe your pet weekly with a allergy shampoo and conditioner, which removes pet dander.
6. Remove clothing worn after grooming or playing with pets. Keep the clothing, now full of animal dander, out of the bedroom. Wash clothing with hot water at 130 degrees.
7. Always wash your face, hands and arms after grooming or playing with pets to remove animal dander.
